Triton Audio
BigAmp Piezo
Type: preamp/D.I.
Features: Low noise Class A JFet amplifier, 15db amplification, Balanced output, input impedance 5 mOhm, runs on 8-48 v phantom power
The key philosophy behind the BigAmp D.I. is to put the pre-amplification as close to the musical instrument as possible, where it is most effective. An extra benefit might be BigAmp’s really small size, making it ultra portable. It runs on phantom power (from e. g. mixing console).

Jazz.FM91: web radio app for iPhone/iPod
A couple of apps turn your iPhone/iPod touch/iPad into a web radio. I’ve been using last.fm a lot, but the available music has recently become less exiting, in my opinion. I now have discovered the Jazz.FM91 app at the App Store, which immedieately became my new favourite! Jazz.FM91 is a Jazz radio station from Canada, which is available worldwide via the internet. With the new iPhone app, you not only can enjoy their radio shows via live stream, they also offer Podcasts, additional web radio streams (“singers” or “contemporary Jazz“), a feature to listen their shows while using other apps (“background”), direct links to their website, program schedule, twitter, webblog, etc …

Apple’s new iPad
Yesterday, Apple has launched the iPad with it’s new iBooks (E-Book reader and online store) features. I think the iPad will be great for sheet music. All iPhone Apps, like iRealBook, will run there, too. Pretty interesting.
Happy Birthday!
Today, it’s Eberhard Weber’s 70. birthday. The German bassist, who lives in south of France, is best known for his work with Jan Garbarek (sax) and Wolfgang Dauner (p), and the exclusive use of an electric upright bass since the 1970ies.
Double Bass theft
Stolen from his home near Paris, France: fine 5-string double bass with “GAND 1869” label inside, dark red varnish. Mensuration: 1129.0 / 525.0 / 384.0 /673.0 mm. Also stolen: two bows, one “Fétique” (wood repaired with metal just next to the button). The theft was targeted on the bass, and seems the work of specialists. If you should hear anything concerning this instrument, the owner,
professional double bass player, Pierre Feyler, would be delighted to hear from you.
iRealBook for Android + web application
Massimo Biolcati has started the iRealBook as iPhone App, but he recently launched an Android version, too. He also developped a web version of the Editor software. With the editor, you can easily change or edit existing songs and add new (or own) tunes to your iRealBook library on your Mac or Windows/Linux based PC.
