Bill Evans Trio: Autumn Leaves

This video of the Bill Evans Trio features  Eddie Gomez on bass. Nice: you can study Eddie’s right hand technique quite well on this clip.

A beautiful solo, really, I love it. Still – isn’t it a bit strage that Eddy plays a bit out of tune in the higher positions of his bass? He plays definitely to low. I’m surprised by this, as it is the same effect of lot of soprano’s in a choir; in most cases, they’re singing just a bit to low – just like Eddy. Funny that a famous bass player like Eddy Gomes apparently falls in the same trap…

Do you know the DVD of Eddie Gomez’ Workshop at David Gage? Eddie sings along his playing totally out of tune … nevertheless, I love his playing, too.
